2. @elgato Selgatoeck XL - $249 (I use this to trigger a bunch of key commands, custom macros and to launch apps)

3. Loncevon 7-inch mini display. $50 (The lowest price I've seen for this) I use this as a second display and typically have Fabfilter Pro Q3 on it for the spectrum analyzer.

4. 192 Piece Cable Management kit $13 (because who doesn't love a tidy studio.)

Want to work in music production professionally an

Want to work in music production professionally and wondering if you should go to school for it? My opinion is- no it's not necessary. If your reasoning is you want a degree so you have something to fall back on then you may want to reconsider audio altogether. It's such a competitive industry that you need to want it so bad you're not even considering other vocations. (aka a plan B 👎)

My advice if you want to Produce, Engineer, Mix, or Master professionally:
1. Move to a music city (Nashville, NY, LA or London)
2. Find an internship with someone who is doing what you want to be doing and sit in on as many sessions as you can. Offer to assist with anything!
3. Buy a little gear (just the basics) to learn on
4. Consume as much content as you can on YouTube, podcasts, mix with the masters, gearspace, etc. There are so many great resources online. Treat it like school.
5. Offer to record artists and bands for whatever rate they can afford when you're not interning to gain experience and learn your tools.

Do this for several years then you'll be ready to take that step into freelance work full-time! Less time and no student debt. No one in the industry cares if you have a degree. 😁

Thankfully my experience has been different and my workload keeps pretty steady. Maybe it’s because I’m on the creative side or because artists are always getting things mixed in advance for their releases. November and December are often my busiest months.
